Choice

My entry for #DEVIANT-LANTERNS's Beacon of Light Competition.

I see Razer as someone who is trapped between his own desire for revenge against Atrocitus, and to continue on with his life (redemption, his affection for Aya, etc.). At some point he will have to make his final choice. For now he walks the Light path, but the Dark beckons so strongly. That is the idea behind the piece anyway.

This is seriously the most emotional, and complex piece that I have done for years. I kind of like it. One truly gets board with static figures and heads all the time.

My scanner murdered all the beautiful subtitles and hues. I can assure you that the original is quite stunning. The affliction is especially bad in the reds of Razer's suit and the grays on his face. I tried so hard to fix the scan, but to no avail . . . You can sort of see what it really looks like by looking at the WIP compilation I made (see below for link). My camera picks up on the colors so much better. I will have to try to take a good photo to take this horrible scan's place some day.

Edit, 30 August 2012: I replaced my previous scan with a photo that I took of the drawing with my camera and tripod (and a lot of well placed blue tape). I took it outside in the late afternoon sun, so I needed to digitally correct for the colors a little bit. Even so, the colors are much more true to the original. The only regret about it that I have is that it does not have nearly the same high degree of dpi and sharpness that the scan has. I tried sharpening the photo, but still . . .

Edit, 3 September 2012: This piece won third place in the competition! YAY!
